At the Altman Building Sunday September 13, 2009 8:30 pm on the dot, the lights go out then silence…eager and ready to view young designer Alexander Berardi first official New York Fashion Week showing, with his Spring/Summer 2010 collection! Designer Amy Smilovic captured a Flirtatious “Alice from Wonderland” entity, with her Tibi 2010 Spring collection. As the models began walking the runway, there was a child –like nostalgia that filled the tent. The ribbon in hair, beautiful yet playful dash of watercolors, floral references, and feminine silhouettes brought this collection to a place of innocent elegance. The canvases of the garments were clean and consistently vibrant.
The Twinkle by Wenlan Spring 2010’s program described the collection as a “fashion mash up”. Floral prints creatively clashed with stripes, punches of neon and prints were paired with the classic black and white, and patterned sheers were layered over graphic prints. Designer, Wenlan Chia
Yigal Azrouël’s Spring 2010 collection was a clear cut lesson in geometry; fabrics were cut with scalpel-like precision to create graphic shapes and bold lines. Often known for his draping techniques to create ultra feminine silhouettes, Yigal did not stray away too far from his design aesthetic this season. The draping was there, the feminine silhouettes were there, but geometry was prevalent throughout the collection.

For Rachel Antonoff, NYFW is Child’s Play….
9/9/09 marked the debut for Rachel Antonoff’s 2010 Spring collection. Held at the Henry Street Playhouse, the collection was reminiscent of bygone eras where subtlety and femininity went a long way. Playful sundresses and tutus rounded out the collection. Guests were greeted at the door with glasses of champagne and whisked into the auditorium where models posed, played and pranced on the stage.

Dressed in all Black flashing a stunning smile she gladly spoke with us about the future of Hautelook.
JSD: How long have you been with HauteLook?
Carlota: I was the second employee of the company. I’ve seen it evolve to what it has become.
JSD: Where do you see HauteLook in 5 years?
Carlota: We hope to keep shopping fun and affordable. I’m a firm believer that you don’t have to spend a lot to look great.
JSD: Tell us a bit about the lounge HauteLook has created
Carlota: We wanted to have a presence at Fashion Week, we wanted to create something for the bloggers because you guys have been amazing to us. Somewhere you can come and relax, kind of like a remote office. We are also hosting events all this week Kelly Bensimon debuting her jewelry, Felix Rey preview, and Alvin Valley.
