The Global Lyme Alliance (GLA) once again took center stage in the fight against Lyme and tick-borne diseases during their annual GLA Global Gala, held at the elegant Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. This spectacular event brought together a star-studded cast of celebrities, influential business leaders, and renowned scientists, all rallying to raise awareness and funds for the critical cause of Lyme disease research.
A Night to Remember
The evening was nothing short of a spectacular affair, beginning with cocktails and a sumptuous dinner, followed by a captivating auction. The event was masterfully orchestrated by Rosanna Scotto, Co-Host of FOX 5’s “Good Day New York,” who seamlessly guided the proceedings. Broadway Star Ashley Loren graced the occasion with her presence, as did Celebrity Ambassador Christopher Meloni.
One of the standout moments of the evening was a special musical performance by the iconic Debbie Gibson, whose electrifying talent left the audience mesmerized.
Honoring Lyme Warriors
One of the most heartfelt moments of the evening was the heartfelt tribute paid to Lyme warrior Kenzie Vath. Kenzie, a devoted wife, loving mother, and dedicated hotelier, has been an unwavering force in the battle against Lyme disease. Her contributions towards raising both funds and awareness for this relentless disease were celebrated and acknowledged by GLA.
In a touching gesture, GLA introduced a new award this year, generously sponsored by philanthropists Bob and Karen Kelly. The award aims to celebrate the heroic endeavors of family members who serve as medical advocates, playing an indispensable role in navigating the complex medical system during the battle against Lyme disease, standing firmly alongside the patients themselves.
An Evening of Generosity
This year’s Gala was not only a night of celebration but also a night of generosity. The event managed to raise an astonishing $1.6 million, a testament to the unwavering commitment of individuals and organizations to support GLA’s mission of conquering Lyme Disease. These funds will play a vital role in advancing research, improving diagnostics, and ultimately finding a cure for Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.
