To kick start fashion week and John Simon preparing us with an exclusive interview with Haleh Nematzadeh we have the music inspired Haleh Nematzadeh “Some Kind of Bliss” Spring/ Summer 2010 collection fashion show. What a most appropriate place than being held at legendary location, the old CBGB now home to John Varvatos Store/Morrison Hotel Gallery. First thing that came to mind with Haleh‘s Spring/Summer collection is fantasy then followed by whimsical, rock inspired pieces with just enough edge and a touch of femininity. A collection of flowy fabrics, soft leathers fringes and studs. The first dress to walk down the catwalk worn by Lydia Hearst was one of my favorites. A few times I kept thinking, “wow” Lydia Hearst looks like an angelic Cinderella in that white bow sweetheart dress. Another favorite was the angel puff sleeve layered corset dress, the puff sleeves almost looked like wings and reminded me of something Claire Danes wore in the 1996 remake of Romeo and Juliet. Pinks, fuchsia, black and white, denim, pastels and white colors were oozing down the runway. Glittered faces and Cosmic Scene jumpsuit and denim digital leather printed back studded vest, pink lace shoulder pad body suit and a gypsy tiered airbrushed unicorn dress! Halfway through the fashion show the lights went down and the black lights kicked in. The models still walking down but now in neon and glow in the dark pieces. Flashy lights corsets and lace. Haleh had taken us from day to night with a 31-piece collection. Haleh Nematzadeh “Some Kind of Bliss” Spring/Summer 2010.
