Carlos Miele Fall 2011

by Dreena Whitfield

Carlos Miele created a melting pot of sophisticated pieces for the Fall.  I loved the juxtaposition of colors, prints and textures that he used in this collection. It’s perfect for the life of a jetsetter, a girl always on the go that craves a bit of luxury. Ranging from jumpers to evening gowns and capes, Carlos Miele stayed true to his design roots and delivered sexy, glamorous options for the jetsetting woman.

The Nolcha Fashion Week Lounge at the Empire Rooftop Hotel posed the perfect getaway for fashion lovers during New York Fashion Week. The Empire Hotel Rooftop was transformed into a beauty and style oasis with manicures and lashes by Kiss, and hair and makeup touch ups from Paul Mitchell; allowing a brief reprieve from the hectic schedule of Fashion Week.

In the entertainment industry it’s all about who you know, lame but true. So many young women (and men) are drawn to the flashing lights of the fame that is associated with this industry, but don’t know about the hard work and dedication that it takes to achieve the ultimate goal. Nose to the grindstone, networking and keeping your eyes on the ultimate prize is what it’s all about.

On Thursday, March 11, 2010, Hennessy, the #1 selling cognac in the world held the NJ launch of its newest blend, Hennessy Black at the Abyss Nightclub in South Amboy, NJ. This is the first major new launch for the House of Hennessy since Hennessy V.S. was introduced in 1961. The newest member to the Hennessy family was released in select U.S. cities in 2009, and will become available nationwide in June 2010. It’s a smoother blend, not as strong as the classic, perfect for mixing in cocktails or if you’re a true Hennessy lover, straight up with no chaser.

Wenlan Chia (Twinkle By Wenlan)

The Twinkle by Wenlan Spring 2010’s program described the collection as a “fashion mash up”. Floral prints creatively clashed with stripes, punches of neon and prints were paired with the classic black and white, and patterned sheers were layered over graphic prints. Designer, Wenlan Chia
