Food Review

Summer is such a wonderful season to experiment with flavorful food and cocktails. Pinnacle Vodka had the right idea by getting a bunch of foodies and cocktail enthusiasts together for a night of cooking demos and cocktailing! The premium vodka brand cleverly introduced their Summer of Unexpected Pairings menu. The night was hosted by Food Network’s fan-favorite Chef Claire Robinson, who not only knows her way around a kitchen but exudes great energy and is completely down to earth.

This special menu does not include your traditional burgers and hot dogs. Which I must say is refreshing. Food should always be fun! Thankfully Chef Robinson and Pinnacle Vodka changed that. Working with the Pinnacle Vodka mixologist, Claire developed a series of simple, seasonal dishes designed to pair perfectly with Pinnacle’s specialty cocktails.

by Desha Winborne

Location: 14 east 58th street

Cuisine: Modern Southern Italian

Items: 1 pizza, 1 pasta, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, 2 cocktails

Best Dish: We adored the pizza, the crust is crisp and delicious and the taste of truffle is amazing.  We also thoroughly enjoyed the squid ink pasta, who knew ink would taste so good!

Overall: The atmosphere is gorgeous and relaxed, the food is prepared expertly by the executive chef.

Nightlife Review: No. 8 NY

by Desha Winborne

Location: 357 West 16th Street

Cuisine: Lite Fair or small plates

Items: 4 small plates, 4 cocktails, 1 dessert

Best Dish: This was a toss-up between the amazing grilled cheese and the decadent Oreos.  If you love cheese you simply have to have the grilled cheese, it is everything you ever wanted in a grilled cheese sandwich. If sweets are your thing you can not miss the fried Oreos. These are not your carnival-style treats, these Oreos have been elevated to new heights. They are not greasy at all and arrive warm with a spice chocolate sauce for dipping.

Overall: A casual warm space to live out your sophisticated nightlife fantasies. No sagging pants allowed, this is a place for the grown and sexy.

Summer BBQ with Burger King

by Desha Winborne

Having a BBQ this summer will be as easy as visiting your nearest Burger King. Last week the home of the Whopper held a summer fun event at the Chelsea Glasshouses. Guests enjoyed a spectacular view, a rooftop deck, a whopper bar and a sampling of the new summer menu. Chefs were on hand to customize your Whopper along with top Burger King Execs who gave some insight into the new menu options. The inspiration for the seasonal additions to the menu derive from distinct regional barbecue flavors.  Carolina’s tangy mustard infused BBQ sauce and Memphis style hickory smoke are the predominant flavor profiles of the season and are featured on the whopper as well as on two new pork sandwiches.  BK fans will love the new pulled pork and riblet sandwiches this summer along with frozen lemonades and sumptuous desserts.

Location: 461 West 23rd Street

Cuisine: French and Italian

Items: 4 Appetizers 2 Entrees 1 dessert 3 cocktails

Best Dish: Choosing a favorite is nearly impossible, Chef Alain does an amazing job of keeping food fresh and delicious.  If there s one thing you must try it is the veal meatballs they are exquisite!

Overall: A surprisingly casual atmosphere with a rich menu of gourmet delights.  Though children are welcome adults are preferred. Though Pomme Frites are available they are not served with chicken fingers. Leave the babies at home and have a relaxing date night or grownup dinner.

Restaurant Review: Kittichai

by Desha Winborne

Location: 60 Thompson Street

Cuisine: Thai

Items: 2 Appetizers, 2 Entrees, 2 Desserts 2 cocktails

Best Dish: The Chilean seabass is out of this world! The sauce and the beautiful fresh fish compliment each other beautifully, this is a dish you will remember for weeks after.
