If all you know of Hooters is tight t-shirts and orange hotpants you are doing your taste buds a grave injustice. From shareable appetizers to decadent desserts you can satisfy your comfort food cravings here.  The first Hooters opened over 30 years ago and since then over 400 locations have been opened across the globe. We visited their New York City location on 33rd Street for a meal and a few drinks. This location is equipped with two dining rooms, a small gift shop and several mounted flat screen TVs. The screens are positioned to allow a good view of the game from any seat in the house. We’ve enjoyed plenty of meals at Hooters over the years but we rarely stray from the usual wings and fries. For our visit, however, we indulged our curiosity and had some lesser-known dishes.

Clinton Hall has gifted us with another Summer hotspot, just this time we’re all going to be crossing the bridge over to Brooklyn and going to their new beer garden at 247 Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg! The restaurant is located next to the POD BK Hotel, who Clinton Hall worked with previously to open up their location in midtown earlier this year. Guests can access Clinton Hall through the Pod BK Hotel or by the street entrance.

Padma Lakshmi, host and executive producer of Bravo’s James Beard Award-winning and Emmy award–winning Top Chef, will be the guest of honor at this year’s Chefs & Champagne on Saturday, July 28, 2018. Lakshmi is in good company, previous honorees include Julia Child, Martha Stewart, and Daniel Boulud, among others.

Lakshmi is a savvy businesswoman, having had multiple companies of her own, including the home décor line, The Padma Collection; and Padma’s Easy Exotic, a collection of frozen rice, lentils, and other culinary products. Last year, Lakshmi became an ambassador for the ACLU, focusing on women’s reproductive health and immigration issues. She is also co-founder of the Endometriosis Foundation of America. When asked about the prestigious honor, Lakshmi said, “I am excited to be joining the ranks of previous guests of honor such as Julia Child and Martha Stewart to support the foundation’s mission to make America’s food culture more delicious, diverse, and sustainable for everyone. Bringing attention to JBF scholarship, women’s leadership, and other impact programs aligns with many of the causes that are close to my heart.”

The annual fundraiser, which is held at Wölffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack, New York, is one of the most highly anticipated culinary events of the summer. During Chefs & Champagne, guests get the chance to sample food and drinks from more than 35 chefs, beverage masters, and artisanal purveyors. Champagne Boizel and Wölffer Estate wines will be served through the evening. As of today, chefs who have signed on to fête Padma are: Alex Baker, Yves, NYC; Emma Bengtsson, Aquavit, NYC; Janine Booth and Jeff McInnis, Root & Bone, NYC; Peter Botros, The Stone House at Clove Lakes, Staten Island, NY; PJ Calapa, Scampi, NYC; Adrienne Cheatham,

In New York City, the meatpacking district is the place to go for good eats and exceptional nightlife. It’s no secret why Bagatelle is one of the places everyone must visit while in the big apple. Bagatelle is a fine French bistro known for a lively brunch scene, with an opulent space accented by graffiti art. Depending on the day/night, the ambiance at Bagatelle can be fun, cozy, or a party. The night we stopped in to sample the menu, it was very cozy and intimate, which is what we prefer. Speaking of new the menu, let’s talk about what Bagatelle is offering their patrons for this Spring/Summer season.

Sushi Roxx is one of NYC’s most unique dining experiences. The trendy Japanese eatery is also a theater of sorts with nightly performances by some of the city’s most talented singers and dancers, who also happen to be part of the wait staff. In between courses, your server may be belting out a classic on the mainstage or twirling around the room in an intricate dance number. We attended a performance once before and were delighted to return to preview their latest show and sample a few new menu items. Among the new menu items are grilled shishito peppers, a spicy light alternative to classic edamame and four new sushi rolls. The new rolls feature an assortment of delectable ingredients such as caviar, crispy nori, snow crab, and lobster. We highly recommend the Van Halen, its a sweet fresh roll with just a hint of spice. We washed down the tasty treats with a few specialty cocktails. One of the newest on the menu is the Black Panther a gin and berry cocktail that is aromatic and refreshing.

There are three different themed performances on their weekly schedule. Wednesday nights you can catch their “I Love Roxx and Roll” compilation of hits. Thursday evenings are an homage to classics with their throwback set playfully entitled “Boogie Nights”. Lastly, starting April 13th Friday and Saturday nights will be devoted to “We Will Roxx You” their latest show of choreographed dance numbers and popular covers. The setlist for this show includes well-known hits from Aerosmith, Van Halen, Journey and Lenny Kravitz to name a few. Sushi Roxx is an entertaining evening of food, cocktails, and music that will leave you hungry for more. Visit SushiRoxxNYC.com for reservations.

Location: 93 MacDougal Street, New York N.Y. 10012

Cuisine: Italian (Pizza)

Best Dish: The pasta was tasty and the meatballs unforgettable but the pizza reigns supreme.

Price:$$

Overall: A quaint restaurant with old-school charm and amazing pizza. An ideal option for all pizza/pasta lovers.

New Yorkers know good pizza, we all possess the innate ability to ferret out the very best in saucy cheesy goodness. As a result, the argument over the best in the big apple is one that will rage on to infinity. Each boro has their go-to pizza place, one of Staten Island’s favorites is Denino’s Pizzeria & Tavern.
