In New York City, the meatpacking district is the place to go for good eats and exceptional nightlife. It’s no secret why Bagatelle is one of the places everyone must visit while in the big apple. Bagatelle is a fine French bistro known for a lively brunch scene, with an opulent space accented by graffiti art. Depending on the day/night, the ambiance at Bagatelle can be fun, cozy, or a party. The night we stopped in to sample the menu, it was very cozy and intimate, which is what we prefer. Speaking of new the menu, let’s talk about what Bagatelle is offering their patrons for this Spring/Summer season.
Tartare de Thon Bagatelle
- ahi tuna tartare, avocado salad, lime soy vinaigrette, taro chips
The Tartare is a great way to start your meal at Bagatelle. The lime soy vinaigrette highlights the clean and silky taste of the tuna. The taro chip adds a nice and crunchy touch to the meal.
Gnocchi Truffés à la Parisienne de Nicolas
- homemade pâte à choux gnocchi, black truffle pesto filling, truffle sauce
The gnocchi is already delicious at Bagatelle but when you throw in a little black truffle, it’s pure magic. The gnocchi was cooked to perfection and slightly melts in your mouth. It is fulfilling and pairs nicely with a glass of Pinot Noir.
Pizza à la Truffe Noire
- black truffle, crème fraîche, Cantal, mozzarella
This thin crust Pizza nice and crispy with just the right about of mozzarella and crème fraîche. Too much crème fraîche would have really over-powered the black truffle. We were happy with the balance of every ingredient.
Saumon d’Ecosse
- Scottish salmon, cauliflower, baby spinach, brown butter, pine nuts, grapes
Scottish Salmon is a premium farmed Atlantic salmon that is sustainably raised off the coast of Scotland. The Salmon was so soft and buttery. The roasted cauliflower added a nice crunchy touch to the dish. We could have did without the pine nuts and grapes but it didn’t totally ruin the dish. This is highly recommended if you’re looking for a hearty meal.
Poulet Rôti Entier à la Truffe
- whole farm-raised truffled chicken, country-style potatoes, caramelized cipollini, button mushrooms, thyme chicken jus
Truffle Chicken is another hearty meal. It’s a bowl of heaven and will definitely leave you feeling satisfied and full. We loved the aroma of the caramelized cipollini.
Le Steak au Poivre
- 12oz black angus NY strip, cognac peppercorn sauce, french fries
This NY strip steak will send your tastebuds into a frenzy, thanks to the amazing peppercorn sauce. We recommend pairing the angus NY strip steak with Côtes du Rhône Rouge “Les Abeilles,” which Bagatelle has plenty of.
Dessert
Dessert was just heaven, a huge ice cream sundae, topped with everything imaginable sweetness you can think of. Inside are a few warm brownies and chocolate chip cookies. If you have room for this monster of a dessert go for it but we recommend sharing it with EVERYONE at your table. There were about four of us and we couldn’t finish.
While New Yorkers may be hip to Bagatelle’s flagship location, you may not know that Bagatelle has expanded to other locations like Miami, Dubai, Rio de Janeiro, Ibiza, and so many more exotic places. Business partners, Aymeric Clemente and Remi Laba shared a desire to translate their previous experience in Hospitality in an environment that stood a lot closer to their idea of what a modern dining destination should be like, and Bagatelle was born.
