Summer is the time to leave the four walls of your apartment behind and get out into the fresh air. Many bars around the city offer outdoor options but not all are created equal. Below are some of our favorite spaces around the city that allow you to enjoy the sunshine.

The Bronx Brewery
I find myself in the Bronx more and more these days! My gym Grit City NYC, lunches at Mottley Kitchen, Yankee Games and The Bronx Brewery. The Bronx Brewery is spacious with its brewery, taproom & backyard space. While it has recently expanded around the city, their OG spot is in the Port Morris Neighborhood of the Bronx. The owners believe in beer’s power to build community and they strive to bring people together, while celebrating the rich and diverse creative scene in their home borough through vibrant culture that uses beer, art, food, and music to inspire. They serve beer – plus a full

And just like that, Serafina continues to grow with the opening of the newest location, Serafina Madison. Located in the NH Collection Hotel, Serafina Madison brings new luxury to the brand. This most unique Serafina location in New York City features stand-out touches like an Instagram worthy tableside pasta cooked in a parmesan wheel, freshly tossed tableside caesar salad, salt-crusted branzino, and a private event space that can be transformed into anything for the perfect party. The restaurant will also offer a hearty breakfast buffet.

Though the name is clear, the annual Taste of the Upper West Side doesn’t just resonate with those living in the neighborhood. As an Upper East Side gal, I make it a mission to hop on the bus and attend this unforgettable culinary experience each year after discovering it pre-pandemic. Now in its 14th year, the Taste of the Upper West Side is proudly hosted by The Columbus Avenue Business Improvement District and ensures that the proceeds from the annual fundraiser go back into the community and help fund neighborhood projects.

South Village Hospitality, the brains behind Ainslie Brooklyn, Cotta, Follia, and Carroll Place, just opened a Manhattan Ainslie this month. The 20,000-square-foot Italian restaurant, wine bar, and beer garden took over the space formerly occupied by Vandal at 199 Bowery on the Lower East Side.

The yellow scripture synonymous with delicious Italian food glowed proudly next to the Stock Exchange building. Serafina Express, a “Dine In or To Go” concept officially opened its doors at 30 Broad Street with a soiree fit for any pasta lover.

Serafina Express was created to meet the needs of those on the go, who refuse to sacrifice quality, even when the New York hustle calls. Anyone who has eaten at a Serafina knows they deliver Italian excellence, which won’t change. The emphasis at Broad Street and the seven other locations slated to open in the coming months will be on value, accessibility, and easy-to-use technology.

Check Out One of NYC’s Best Kept Secrets, Hidden Lane

by xoJohn

Last week, for the first time, I stopped by Hidden Lane, located in the Gramercy area of New York City. I was very excited to check out this hidden gem. On the evening of my visit, Hidden Lane hosted an intimate Winter Cocktail Soiree. Fitting and much needed for such a chilly evening. Although Hidden Lane is known for serving up specialty cocktails, on this night guests got to indulge in pizza and meatless meatballs from Zazzy’s Pizza in addition to chocolate-covered doughnuts and cookies from Innocent Yesterday on the Upper East Side. The pepperoni pizza was my favorite by the way.
