The yellow scripture synonymous with delicious Italian food glowed proudly next to the Stock Exchange building. Serafina Express, a “Dine In or To Go” concept officially opened its doors at 30 Broad Street with a soiree fit for any pasta lover.
Serafina Express was created to meet the needs of those on the go, who refuse to sacrifice quality, even when the New York hustle calls. Anyone who has eaten at a Serafina knows they deliver Italian excellence, which won’t change. The emphasis at Broad Street and the seven other locations slated to open in the coming months will be on value, accessibility, and easy-to-use technology.
The event kicked off with a real pasta ribbon, cut by Vittorio Assaf and Fabio Granato (Serafina Co-Founders), Consul General of Italy Cesare Bieller, and Mr. John Paulson. Guests and passersby watched eagerly as the official opening took place. In the throws of fashion week, guests dressed to be seen made their way inside to enjoy music by DJ Rachel Winters, rosé by Whispering Angel and Serafina passed appetizers which included:
Pizza: Buffalo Mozzarella Pizza; Potato and Truffle Pizza, Vegan Zucchini Pizza, Vegan Tomato and Porcini Mushroom Pizza
Pasta: Tortellini ai 4 Formaggi, Ravioli ai Cherry Tomato and Basil; Penne Arrabbiata; Cavatelli al Pesto; Gnocchi ai Cherry Tomatoes; Penne Stoli Alla Vodka
Dessert: Tiramisu and Italian Ricotta Cheesecake.
The standouts for my palate were the Potato and Truffle Pizza, Vegan Tomato and Porcini Mushroom Pizza, Tortellini and Gnocchi (but everything was off the chart fresh and authentic.) Of course, both desserts were exquisite – as the Italians do.
A total of eight locations will soon grace the city: 30 Broad Street; Sixth Avenue and Eighth Street; 22nd Street and Park Avenue South; Jackson Avenue and Queens Boulevard; One Gateway Center at Penn Station in Newark; University Place and 12th Street; 84th and Third Avenue; 777 Third Avenue at 48th.
