Brad Garrett continued tapping into his stand up roots this past weekend at Comix Comedy Club. Best known for his role as Robert (the older and incredibly taller brother) on Everybody Loves Raymond, Garrett took center stage to inform audiences that “Robert is dead!” and to update us on his life in true comedic fashion while sparing absolutely no one-including himself, in the process.

The energy was palpable at the 12th Annual NYC Plate by Plate Tasting Benefit at the Metropolitan Pavillion on Friday. Every year, Project by Project, a national volunteer organization partners with a different non-profit and builds a campaign focused on fundraising (the Plate by Plate benefit), community outreach and public awareness. This year, the proceeds went to support its 2010 partner, Hamilton-Madison House, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing health and social programs to the Asian immigrant community in NYC.

Hank & Cupcakes has made quite an impression on the NY music scene since moving from Israel almost 2 years ago. Call them the dynamic duo as they write and perform their own catchy-as-hell pop songs with Hank on bass and Cupcakes as vocals and on drums. They are giving pop music a much needed kick in the ass so no need to feel ashamed about knowing the words to these songs and no lip synching around here because they’re quite talented!

We couldn’t think of a better way to end NYFW than with The Blonds at Milk Studios on Thursday. The Blonds didn’t disappoint in all their opulent glory along with their sense of humor (insert the “tophat” and “LOL” headbands!).

The Sky Room at the ever eclectic New Museum was the canvas for Maria Sharapova’s Fall 2010 collection launch for Cole Haan as well as for a silent auction to benefit Common Cents on Thursday. The event was co-hosted by tennis star Maria Sharapova (who will step onto the court on Monday at the 2010 U.S. Open), photographer Todd Selby, and Interview Magazine.
