Dennis Basso beautifully interpreted the nuances of the Mediterranean this season using a range of fabrics including gazar, taffeta and alligator in sky blue, blush pink, ombre’d aquamarine and champagne.As usual, the show was at once feminine and sophisticated though he upped the ante by using cutouts for tamed sex appeal. Metallics and full skirts were reminiscent of last Spring, but the florals this Spring were remixed with edge.
While there were minimal furs (which Basso is best known for), it certainly was not absent. The collection was interspersed with fur and alligator shrugs and boleros as well as snakeskin and alligator clutches to complement many of the looks. It was a complete head-to-toe collection with hair by John Barrett of Berdorf’s and shoes by Ruthie Davis that had the models gliding on water.
