Last week, we made our way to Arario Gallery to view the much-anticipated Act 1 Spring 2011 collection by Sally Wu following the success of her first collection back in February. Known for creating sophisticated silhouettes that “elevate and simplify the pleasures of everyday dressing,” Wu certainly did not disappoint. This season, she was inspired by the woman who lounges on a city rooftop, sipping on champagne while the sun is setting in the background. She maintained the effortlessly chic philosophy by featuring black and white interspersed with color, and slouchy as well as body-conscious pieces in her collection styled well with necklaces and oversized bags.
Wu is no stranger to other creative mediums having curated museum exhibits as well as produced documentaries. She even brought the arts to the gallery space by incorporating live African drumming and dancing into her show. Wu has previously worked for other fashion heavyweights including Karl Lagerfeld and Helmut Lang before launching Act 1 earlier this year. We’re just glad she’s now curating beautiful ready-to-wear collections!
ACT 1’s inspiration is a city weekend on a rooftop. It is downtown chic, with a sophisticated sexy edge. With a sunset of city skyline, hair blowing in the wind, champagne in hand, it’s a celebration for every beautiful day.
