The Sky Room at the ever eclectic New Museum was the canvas for Maria Sharapova’s Fall 2010 collection launch for Cole Haan as well as for a silent auction to benefit Common Cents on Thursday. The event was co-hosted by tennis star Maria Sharapova (who will step onto the court on Monday at the 2010 U.S. Open), photographer Todd Selby, and Interview Magazine.Todd Selby better known as The Selby who shot Cole Haan’s Fall 2010 ad campaign, “The Inspired Life,” lent his artistic hand to the evening with signed illustrations for the silent auction where 100% of the proceeds went to Common Cents. Common Cents, a wonderful organization founded by the creators of Penny Harvest “specializes in creating and managing service-learning programs for young people” by activating youth to engage with their communities on various causes.
Maria Sharapova’s third collection for Cole Haan features even more flats including ones with corset-lace detailing, decadent jewel tone velvets as well as chic suede flat boots, and medium sized satchels. As guests contemplated their bids, and studied the massive Cole Haan paper mache flats tacked onto the wall, they enjoyed tasty dessert fare while one of the campaign’s 6 subjects, DJ Lindsay, was on tables.
