Overall: A Kosher steakhouse with retro charm. An ideal choice for a quick pre-show bite in the heart of Broadway.
Le Marais has been called one of the best Kosher Steakhouses in the city. Their reputation was built on almost 20 years in operation. The restaurant is located just steps away from some of the biggest shows on Broadway making it an easy choice for a pre or post-show meal. The menu, created by Chef Mark Hennessey is a rustic compilation of premium cuts, seafood, and a few unexpected surprises. Some of the unique items offered include veal tongue tacos, Merguez Sausages, and Persillade, a French-style steak prepared using the sous vide method.
Waygu Beef Sliders
The sliders were a tasty starter. The bite-sized burgers were served with crispy onions and pickle slices.
Merguez Couscous
Merguez Sausages are popular in North Africa and Middle Eastern cuisine. Unlike the sausages we are most familiar with, these savory links are made without the pork wrapper which usually adds a sharp snap to the bite. The texture is tender but firm. The flavor is mild at first but builds to a satisfying heat.
Roti De Veau
The Roasted Veal was superb. The flesh was melt in your mouth tender, no knife required. The well-seasoned meat is tender enough to cut with a spoon. The veal is served with bamboo rice and roasted carrots. Bamboo Rice is short grain rice infused with fresh bamboo juice. The texture is creamy like risotto and was a unique complement to the veal.
Ribeye
The ribeye is one of our favorite cuts of beef, and Marais does it well. The meat is well seasoned and like all premium cuts on the menu, it is served with a generous helping of fries and a lightly dressed salad.
Chataigne de Cacahuète et Rosettes
Our meal ended with a tasty dessert of peanut butter mousse filled with hazelnut covered in dark chocolate. It is a delight and a great way to end dinner.
Cocktails
Le Marais has a small cocktail menu but a full bar with an extensive wine list. If you don’t see a drink you want from the cocktail list rest assured the bar can likely mix up something for you. We enjoyed a classic French Martini and a “hard” fruit punch with our meal.
Service at Le Marais is impeccable. In fact, it is one of the fastest services we’ve seen in years at a steakhouse. The staff is a well-oiled machine, the dishes fly out of the kitchen with precision. Dining at Le Marais provides a mixture of traditional and modern that will satisfy the whole family.
Le Marais is not only a great pre/post theater options but also perfect for a date night or socializing with family and friends.
