Restaurant Reviews

Location: 11 Times Square

Cuisine: Eclectic American and Sushi

Items: 1 Sushi Roll, 4 cocktails, 4 entrees, 1 dessert

Overall: A relaxed space far removed from the excited throng of tourists just outside. This is a great space for native New Yorkers to entertain out of town guests or visit before or after one of the fabulous shows in the area. It s also a great watering hole for tourists looking for an easy to get to dining experience that offers a break from the excitement of the city.

The first time I saw Urbo was in passing. Its unique glass outside beckoned me and the appearance of flickering flames just beyond its doors was an inviting image that left me curious about its wares.  Located on one the busiest strips in Times Square the eatery somehow managed to gain and hold my attention and the exciting throng of tourists faded into the background.  I needed to get in there, but it wasn’t open yet. The space was still under construction despite the interesting décor.  Luckily the wait for the official opening was a short one and a few short weeks later I had the chance to experience the cuisine behind the flashy looks.

Restaurant Review: Love Cafe and Bar

by Desha Winborne

Location: 430 2nd Avenue New York, NY

Cuisine: Eastern European (Russian)

Items: A tasting of numerous dishes on the menu, over 10 Items!

Best Dish: The wings were amazing we love a well sauced wing, but the star was the stuffed cabbage. It was meaty and rich, a decadent combination.

Overall: A charming eatery that will grab you from the entrance. Margarita is a phenomenal cook with a warm heart that welcomes you into her restaurant with the ease of an old friend inviting you for dinner. A warm cozy place for great food and family oriented atmosphere.

Dining at Haru: New Location, Superb Menu

by xoJohn

It’s been nearly a year since we’ve been to Haru Sushi Time Square and a lot has changed. The popular eatery has moved locations, just a few steps away from its previous site to the famed Time Square Building at 229 West 43rd Street – Unit 221. The new spot will still have a full-service bar and sushi bar, banquet seating, and much more. A fun addition to the new location is the private dining room, where up to 15 guests can comfortably celebrate their own special occasion. Haru Sushi has a decadent modern design which makes it feel as if you’re not in the often congested Time Square yet boasts a professional crowd and sushi lovers.

Location: 40 Central Park South

Cuisine: Classic Italian

Items: 2 cocktails, 1 appetizer, 1 pizza, 3 entrees, 1 dessert

Best Dish: Everything was delicious but our favorite of the evening was the Seafood Pasta special. It was just the right ratio of pasta to seafood and contained several of our favorite seafood items. Most importantly it contained succulent main lobster and tasty jumbo shrimp, a drool-inducing combination of greatness.

Location: 167 Orchard Street

Cuisine:  Southern (Brunch)

Items: 3 entrees 1 side dish 2 cocktails

Best Dish: The patty melt was tasty. The beef was tender and well prepared. Pimento cheese is never our first choice for a burger but somehow on his sandwich it works.

Overall: The atmosphere is light and comfortable with an easy southern charm. This a great space for drinks and small plates but the brunch needs some improvement.

Dare To Pair with Adam Richman & Alamos Wines

by xoJohn

A few of New York City’s food aficionados gathered at The Tasting Table where TV Host and Author Adam Richman put together his “Daring Pairings” for Alamos Wines. In case you didn’t know, Alamos Wines hail from Argentina and offers the best of Mendoza’s high altitude vineyards. Alamos grapes are grown at the foothills of the Andes Mountains at elevations of 3,000 to 5,000 feet, where intense sunlight, cool evening temperatures and mineral-rich irrigation from mountain snowmelt translate to rich wines with intense flavor characteristics.
