Aptly named MARITIME, designer Luis Antonio’s Spring-Summer 2015 Collection draws inspiration from the island waters of his San Juan, Puerto Rico homeland and his love of graphic designs in bold nautical colors.  Presented on September 6 at The Pavilion at Lincoln Center during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City, Antonio’s dresses, skirts and pants popped and sashayed down the runway.

Milly By Michelle Smith Fall 2013 12Illumination was the theme for MILLY’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection presented at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on February 13 at The Stage at Lincoln Center in New York City. Inspired by nighttime urban landscapes, MILLY founder and designer, Michelle Smith made big city lights come alive by combining photorealistic prints, glistening charcoals, and metallic blacks along with innovative fabrics and textures. The result is a sophisticated collection that’s on-trend with a modern take on classic silhouettes.

Cousins and Noon By Noor designers Noor Rashid Al Khalifa and Haya Mohammed Al Khalifa looked to the natural world surrounding the archipelago of their native Bahrain as the inspiration for their Fall/Winter 2013 collection that debuted at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on February 8 at New York City’s Lincoln Center.  “For Fall/Winter 2013, the central influence was the transient culture of our home, Bahrain. We found the relation of migratory birds with the evanescent lifestyle very interesting so we wanted to elaborate on this and create a collection for a woman of travel,” said Shaikha Noor.

The signature draping and lady-like elements that define the design team Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra were front and center in the label’s RTW Fall 2013 collection debut at New York City’s Milk Studio during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on February 7.  Red-lipped models with bed-head hair gave the show a modern edge as did Angela Simmons, in a front row seat.

Rich, lush earth tones of brown, taupe, wheat and gray were the featured hues for wrap dresses, coats, and skirts. The pink-green aerial print and acid green pleat drape dress provided a touch of surprise as did pieces with front and back color blocking. The collection spoke to warmth and sophistication with an over-sized brown alpaca teddy bear coat and cinched waist along with deep V-necks and knee-length hemlines.

Nolcha Fashion Week kicked-off its group runway show on September 12 at Pier 59 in New York City.  The show featured the menswear spring/summer 2013 collections of PrettyGreen, Firetrap, Bolongaro Trevor and Richard Smith Prêt á Porter.

The looks ranged from graphic tee-shirts and mixed pattern jackets to grandpa hipster sweaters and edgy, dandy suits.  Slim cuts, body conscious lines and contoured pant legs with cuffs perfectly rolled at the ankle are key spring themes.

PrettyGreen highlighted bold pin-stripes and played up a geek-chic vibe.  Firetrap focused on distressed denim and “bad boy” suits. Bolongaro Trevor used eye-catching patterns along with architectural and decorative details.  Hipsters will find their inner  21st century dandy in Richard Smith Prêt á Porter suits and his new take on the classic tux featuring a mixed patterned shirt and textured jacket.
