The signature draping and lady-like elements that define the design team Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra were front and center in the label’s RTW Fall 2013 collection debut at New York City’s Milk Studio during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on February 7. Red-lipped models with bed-head hair gave the show a modern edge as did Angela Simmons, in a front row seat.
Rich, lush earth tones of brown, taupe, wheat and gray were the featured hues for wrap dresses, coats, and skirts. The pink-green aerial print and acid green pleat drape dress provided a touch of surprise as did pieces with front and back color blocking. The collection spoke to warmth and sophistication with an over-sized brown alpaca teddy bear coat and cinched waist along with deep V-necks and knee-length hemlines.
Accessible and wearable, the collection reflects the designers’ commitment to fit and tailoring. Costello Tagliapietra premiered their label in spring 2005 in New York. The team went on to win the 2005 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award and were named finalists of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2005 and 2006. In the summer of 2006 both designers were elected to the CFDA.
The design duo has created clothing for celebrities including Bruce and Patti Springsteen, Heather Graham, Catherine Zeta Jones, Madonna, Nicole Kidman and Oprah Winfrey.
