On a rainy Thursday morning, May 10, more than 2,300 women came together at the New York Women’s Foundation (NYWF) 25th Anniversary Celebrating Women Breakfast Honoring Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Al-jen Poo and Merble Reagon. The inspiring breakfast included a choir performance, speeches from various NYWF board members, local NYC officials, and of course the guests of honor.

Former Project Runway contestant Season 7 and designer Emilio Sosa presented his Fall 2012 collection as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in an elevated presentation at Alvin American Dance Theatre on February 10, 2012. The presentation was interesting given its location and setting in one of the premiere dance companies in the world and with a view of a busy New York City street in the heart of midtown.
While booze doesn’t flow as freely at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week as it has in the past, Leather Japan wasn’t afraid to embrace an open bar outside their presentation upon entry.
Having covered the Venexiana collection previously, and now that Hungarian-born Kati Stern is now in her fifth season at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, it’s clear to say that she continues to dazzle the crowd with her elegant, couture, yet wearable gowns featuring classic, sophisticated glamor along with a rock edge – designed to please both a younger and older generation.

Pop-rocker princess Avril Lavigne debuted her Spring/Summer 2012 collection to a variety of adoring fans including the Kardashians (Kylie Jenner modeled), and Teresa Guidice of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, at the Metropolitan Pavilion during New York Fashion Week as part of “Style 360,” the 9th annual series of fashion and society events and production of A-List Communications.
Paola Ivana Suhonen, Helsinki born designer behind the independent fashion and cinema brand Ivana Helsinki channeled “Indian Summer” for the inspiration for her Spring/Summer 2012 collection for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week – “Love Stories, Road Trips & Dresses///Northern Oddity, Pure Beauty & Wildwood Vagabonds.” The show began with a slideshow of playful images of girls running through the woods and a haunting melodic soundtrack, reminiscent of what she described as a balance between “white arctic summer nights and endless winter sadness … eerie hovering isolation and intense starkness.”
