The collection was very tribal in nature with each model’s face painted with black stripes and hair styled straight up in teepee styles. Some of the models even had dipped hands in black paint, a look as if they had just been through the mud. Suhonen designed many oversized pullover dresses in the collection with tribal prints in hues of green, red, blue and nude. Other silhouettes included big, knee-length flowy skirts, long, ground-skimming dresses and tunics. While much of the collection repeated patterns and had similar silhouettes, it was surprisingly wearable, or as Suhonen would say featured “a shot of contemporary charm.”
Suhonen started the brand as her personal art project and finds inspiration in her life as a nomad. It’s clear her whimsical, yet deep nature is reflected in her pieces for “girl-women with beautiful souls.” Her atelier, based in downtown Helsinki, operates on a small-series production, with the knits manufactured in Finland and hand knits from Lapland.
