Blog Cafe 2.0 Recap

by Yanni D

P.S. 450 no, not the school, but the quaint lounge nestled at the edge of Chelsea was comfortably filled with bloggers on August 11, 2010. In attendance, were lifestyle, entertainment and fashion bloggers plus everything else in between. Whatever you’re vice there was a blog there that could fill it. “Who knew there were so many bloggers?” That question never ceased to amaze me nor did it amaze Arie Rich, creator of KMP (Keep Me Posted) blog and host of Blog Café 2.0. This is the second year that she threw this event to help bring the blogging community together.

MBFW | Dennis Basso Fall/Winter 2010

by Yanni D

Exquisite is the word and Dennis Basso is the name. His Fall 2010 collection spoke volumes as luxuries furs, cut-away and asymmetrical fronts, large face-framing collars, slim pants, and body-grazing knit dresses and gowns lined the runway.

by Yanni D

As I walked into MILK Studios “True British” distinctively stood out. Temperley’s inspiration came from the archived works of classic fashion photographer Norman Parkinson.

by Yanni D

Ebony, cream and crimson made up the palette for Mimi Plange, designer of Boudoir D’huitres, Fall 2010 collection. Sarah Callinan opened with a beautiful opera melody and the models did a fierce catwalk with powdered hairdos, signature rose knuckle rings and extravagant studded boots.

(L-R) Media personality Katrina Zsish, model Marquita Pring, President of Supima Jesse Curly, model Coco Rocha and model Candice Huffine

An open call last October at Bloomingdales resulted in six finalists for the Supima Design Competition 2010 hosted by Katrina Szish. Supima, the world’s luxury cotton corporation, has taken a vested interest in helping young designers grow which is why this is the third successful year they are hosting this event. The six finalists: Sachika, Michael Venker, Nadia Ivanova, Robin Tomas, Heber Sanchez, and Gina Desilva were given four weeks to produce a women’s evening wear look from top quality fabric incorporating Supima cotton. The three evening wear pieces were designed using three familiar fabric constructions: lustrous woven cotton, fine jersey, and sturdy denim and corduroys. In addition, to the required pieces each designer was asked to recreate the ultimate menswear basic T-shirt. The winning T-shirt, which was designed by Robin Tomas, will be sold in the Supima Collection at Bloomingdales which was launched last month.
