A visit to New York City is not complete until you have a chance to cruise the Hudson River. There are many options in this city for river cruises. However, if you prefer elegant and intimate experiences than the excursions offered by Classic Harbor Line are for you.
This week we had the privilege of boarding the Manhattan II yacht for a sunset cruise. The Manhattan II design is inspired by millionaire commuter vessels of the Gatsby Age when New Yorkers would travel up and down the Hudson to their country estates. The cabin is enclosed in glass for panoramic views of the iconic New York City skyline. Once the vessel is underway you can start your trip with a complimentary cocktail.
As we cruised down the Hudson River, the guide draws your attention to the notable landmarks, like One World Trade, Empire State Building, and the Brooklyn Bridge. Guests are invited to the bow of the vessel to get close up views and make instagramable moments. The tour slows as the boat approaches the majestic Statue of Liberty as the sun sets. Like the one we captured here:
Even if you have seen the Statue of Liberty before, you will still have a breath catching moment as you view Lady Liberty with the backdrop of the pink and gold sunset – it is truly a magnificent sight.
Classic Harbor Sails offers cruises through out the seasons for day or night for a couple of hours or a whole day: Romantic Evenings or Family Day trips. Celebrate any occasion or go anytime to enjoy sailing on the beautiful Hudson River.
Here are a few upcoming cruises we highly recommend:
- Monday 8/21/2017 Solar Eclipse Cruise – Get far enough into the harbor for the most dramatic solar eclipse views by the Statue of Liberty
- Archtober is back starting October 1, 2017, and this year is ideal to come check out all the recently completed dramatic NYC waterfront buildings on The Center For Architecture Around Manhattan Boat Tour
