The American Masters Dinner presented by Mercedes-Benz took Friday night as part of the second annual All-Star Chef Classic. An event space located on the L.A. Live campus was transformed into Restaurant Stadium, “a state-of-the-art venue [that brought] over 300 fans ‘kitchen-side’ in an intimate VIP setting, where they [were] as close to the action as possible without being in the heat of the kitchen. “
Prior
Walking into Restaurant Stadium for the first time was awesome; the structure was pretty much an amusement park for foodies! Billy Harris the host of this year’s American Masters Dinner kicked things off by introducing the All-Star Chefs for the evening, which were Michael Cimarusti, Wylie Dufresne, Daniel Patterson, Nancy Silverton, and Christina Tosi.
The dinner was broken up into five courses. The run of show consisted of each chef giving a brief introduction to his or her dish, followed by a mini vignette that showcased what makes each All-Star Chef special. Once plating was completed, each dish was served and we were treated to a live demo of how to prepare the course from start to finish.
Honestly if I had to pick a favorite dish I don’t think I could. Everything was so delicious in its own unique way. One thing that did stand out to me though was the hint of salt I tasted in Chef Tosi’s miso butterscotch. The saltiness totally complimented the sweetness of the apple pie cake. I consider myself a dessert connoisseur, so I was thoroughly impressed. Overall, all of the flavors were great, all of the wine pairings were great, and the ambiance was great.
This event was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. It was a great twist on the everyday food festival. It was a complete experience! I highly recommend that if you haven’t checked out the All-Star Chef Classic you do. They have some great events that are sure to satisfy any food enthusiast!
