Le Diner En Blanc celebrated its 7th year in NYC with a glorious picnic in Lincoln Center’s historic courtyard. Guests of the event arrived decked out in all white creating an endless sea of chic, from the historic steps of the Opera to beyond the bandshell. Invitations to the party are the most coveted on the New York social calendar, and for good reason, it is a fabulous experience. To be surrounded by like minded individuals focused only on merriment is a rare occasion and one we should all take advantage of. Adding the appeal is the exclusivity of the guest list. Entry is only granted to a precious few thousand as many more join the expanding wait list, hoping for their chance to enjoy the festivities. If you are fortunate enough to be extended an invitation you won’t know where the party is until the last possible moment. The party’s location is a closely guarded secret and it differs each year and is only revealed to reveler hours before the kickoff. Diner en Blanc is like no other as the guests provide their own atmosphere. Each table setting is curated by the attendees, who bring their own tables chairs and centerpieces. This concept allows for a tremendous creative effort as guests build elaborate setups complete with lighting and luxurious plating.

New York City has many hidden gems and we love discovering them, like this new sensational speakeasy, called Mr. Cannon. Located in the newly renovated South Street Seaport area, Mr. Cannon is the latest adventure from Howard Hughes Corporation and The Lure Group. Mr. Cannon boasts a cocktail and champagne-only menu; no food is served but you can always stop Seaport Food Lab or other eateries nearby. The new hotspot is about 600-square ft and has a 19th-century vibe. The space is low lit and houses a few artifacts and woodcut portraits of their fictional yet dapper character, Mr. Cannon. Mr. Cannon is a sharply dress rat that puts those underground New York City vermin to shame.

A visit to New York City is not complete until you have a chance to cruise the Hudson River. There are many options in this city for river cruises. However, if you prefer elegant and intimate experiences than the excursions offered by Classic Harbor Line are for you.

Over the weekend, we headed out to the amazing beautiful Wölffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack, New York for the James Beard Foundation‘s 27th annual Chefs & Champagne summer fundraiser. One of our favorite events of the year. This year, the foundation honored multiple James Beard Foundation Award–winning chef, author and restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson. More than 1,000 filled the outdoor tent for a night of philanthropy, music, laughs, delicious cuisines from over 35 prestigious chefs, plus endless bubbly and wines from Wölffer Estate Vineyard and Champagne Barons de Rothschild.

Location: 120 East 39th Street, New York, NY 10016

Cuisine: Sushi

Best Dish: Although the restaurant is known for its creative sushi, the lobster mac & cheese is the stand out star.

Price: $$

Overall: The best kitschy dinner and show you didn’t know you needed to experience.

On Thursday, we celebrated the two year anniversary of Sushi Roxx and the opening of its new show “Love Roxx.” The midtown east eatery, which is designed with animated Japanese wall décor, paper lanterns, and prominent hues of red, is the concept and dream of owner Jason Apfelbaum. Along with the help of his talented, theater-trained wait staff, Apfelbaum has created a space where he says they are “not in the restaurant business,” but rather in “the feeling business.” And currently, that feeling is all about love.
