New York City has many hidden gems and we love discovering them, like this new sensational speakeasy, called Mr. Cannon. Located in the newly renovated South Street Seaport area, Mr. Cannon is the latest adventure from Howard Hughes Corporation and The Lure Group. Mr. Cannon boasts a cocktail and champagne-only menu; no food is served but you can always stop Seaport Food Lab or other eateries nearby. The new hotspot is about 600-square ft and has a 19th-century vibe. The space is low lit and houses a few artifacts and woodcut portraits of their fictional yet dapper character, Mr. Cannon. Mr. Cannon is a sharply dress rat that puts those underground New York City vermin to shame.
Since this is a cocktail bar, let’s talk about the drinks. Chris Kearns is the head mixologist in charge and he delivers with this menu. The price point of all cocktails is .00. The cocktail menu has something for everyone. We usually go for the stronger cocktails. Our favorites were the Redolence, a mix of Basil Hayden’s Bourbon, Hornitos Reposado Tequila, cardamom bitters, cane syrup, and lemon zest; Earth & Elegance, a mix of Bacardi Oakheart Rum, Ransom Old Tom Gin, beets, pineapple and lemon juices, honey, mint, herbal and citrus vapor. The mixologist does an incredible job with the use of beets in the Earth & Elegance cocktail. We had to indulge in another round we departed. Lastly, make sure mojito cart stops by your table, the Cuban style mojitos are made right in front of you with either Bacardi Superior or Bacardi Oakheart Rum. The tableside mojito cart drinks are priced at .00 and are well worth it.
Mr. Cannon is now open daily from 5:00PM-2:00AM at 206 Front Street, New York, NY. The location is a bit tricky to find but to help you out, look for the well-tailored Mr. Cannon rat on the front of the black door and ring the doorbell.
We hope to catch you there!
Cheers!
