Review: Kurry Qulture

by Desha Winborne

Location: 36-05 30th Avenue

Cuisine: Indian

Best Dish: The olive garlic naan was sensational but the Bhuna Goat was the star. The meat was fork tender smothered in the sauce for a luxurious mouth feel. If you don’t do goat you may want to reconsider, or just go with the Goan Shrimp. The shrimp were just as tasty.

Price: $$

Overall: A casual but trendy space for your next foodie adventure. Kurry Qulture is the space to expose a novice to the flavors of India. The food is straightforward and some dishes can be customized to your spice tolerance. A great advantage when exploring new things. Most importantly it is the best in the boro, why not start at the top?

Esperanto Offers Tasty Latin American Eats (Review)

by xoJohn

Location: 145 Avenue C

Cuisine: Latin/Brazilian

Best Dish: The best dish was the baked mussels. We didn’t need to think it over or debate it, the baked mussels are hands down one the best mussel dishes we’ve had so far.

Overall: A charming lively space with rustic decor, delectable eats, and an energetic performance space.

Location: 519 Columbus Avenue, New York, NY

Cuisine: Northern Italian

Best Dish: The lamb chops were outstanding and the spaghetti is divine but our favorite dish of the evening was the oven roasted salmon. It is not easy to achieve crisp skin and maintain tender flesh with salmon and yet that is exactly how it was presented and enjoyed.

Overall: The posh decor is reason enough to visit but you will fall in love with the food. If you love Italian cuisines, this restaurant is a must. The venue is also an ideal space for an impressive first date or special occasion. The setting and cuisine are enhanced by a resplendent entertainment experience that features musicians and students from nearby Juilliard and Lincoln Center performing live music nightly and during brunch, and occasional opera.

by Desha Winborne

In our never-ending quest for good eats, we stumbled across EXKi an all natural casual eaterie in Manhattan. The bright airy space is newly redecorated with bright white walls, live plants and inviting display cases. The Carrara Marble and European oak accents sets the tone for a bright, inviting place to enjoy a wholesome meal.  EXKi’s new intuitive layout makes the delicious food a centerpiece as customers peruse the menu and grab-and-go options, and ample seating creates a welcoming environment for diners to sit down and refuel.  The urban garden inspired décor perfectly complements the freshness of the menu offerings, and adds to the wellness centered experience.  The decor mirrors EXKi’s menu of fresh vegetables clean eating. Guests who are in a hurry can pick up anyone of the varieties of grab and go snacks, sandwiches, and salads. EXKi also makes fresh juices and smoothies. Location: 225 River Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030

Cuisine: Seafood/Italian

Best Dish: The Lobster Rigatoni was stupendous. The pasta was well made and the sauce was a light flavorful complement to the succulent lobster. We also highly recommend the creamed kale, it was one of the very best kale dishes we’ve had. The creamy sauce worked well with the bitter kale.

Overall: Halifax is a beautiful space offering delicious farm to table cuisine. The venue is a perfect place for a special occasion, a rare date night, or just a special treat for any seafood lover (like ourselves).

ReViVer Expands To Flatiron Neighborhood (Review)

by xoJohn

Location: 303 Park Avenue South, New York, NY

Cuisine: Healthy

Best Dish: The backyard burger is a surprisingly filling and tasty option, but the Mahi Curry stood out as the favorite. The curry was decadent but somehow the veggies remained crisp and fresh tasting.

Overall: A healthy homestyle eatery perfect for a post workout meal, or a healthy alternative for your next casual night out.

Harlem Burger Co.: The Best Burgers in Town

by xoJohn

Location: 2190 Frederick Douglass Blvd, New York, NY 10026

Cuisine: American/Burgers

Best Dish: We loved the meaty beef burger but the star of the day was the veggie burger. Not that is takes anything away from the deliciousness of its beefy sister, it just opened up our palettes to the possibility of meatless options. Anything meatless that can be happily gobbled up by self-proclaimed carnivores is worthy of the highest praise.

Overall: A cool easy-going venue for a quick but delicious bite. Feel free to drop by but choose your seat quickly they fill up fast but don’t let that deter you there’s always takeout!
