DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS launched its 14th annual DINING BY DESIGN tour with 5-days of events running concurrently with the Architectural Digest Home Design Show at Pier 94, 12th Ave. at 55th Street in New York City on Thursday, March 17th through Monday, March 21st. This year, DIFFA honored one of their greatest supporters Margaret Russell, Editor-In-Chief of Architectural Digest. Russell was the driving force behind the emergence of DINING BY DESIGN and instrumental in shaping it into the event it has become today. Russell was honored at the Gala celebration on Monday, March 21st with a video presentation by David Rockwell, Vicente Wolf and DIFFA Executive Director David Sheppard, as well as remarks by DIFFA Trustee and VP of Wynn Design Roger Thomas. DIFFA’s DINING BY DESIGN brought together some of the most talented and celebrated individuals in the worlds of fashion, interior design, art, and architecture to create spectacular, over-the-top dining environments and raised over $560,000 for direct care for people living with AIDS and preventative education for those at risk.
The night was amazing and awe-inspiring. The multi-city tour, which in past years has raised more than $13 million for DIFFA!
I had the pleasure of sitting at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) with the lovely Jes Gordon. We dined on a 3-course meal which included a delicious Spring Salad, Short Ribs (below), and a Dessert Buffet to die for.
I also had the honor and pleasure of interviewing designer Tracy Reese, who told me her spring must-haves and Jes Gordon about her table top design.
DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS is one of the largest funders of HIV/AIDS service and education programs in the United States. Since being founded in 1984, DIFFA has mobilized the immense resources of the design communities to provide over $38 million to hundreds of AIDS service organizations nationwide. For more than 23 years, DIFFA has been one of the country’s largest supporters of both direct care for people living with AIDS and preventative education for those at risk.
