by Desha Winborne

Location: 40 W. 53rd Street

Best Dish: The ribs are spectacular fall off the bone tender and beautifully seasoned.  Be sure to have these as the Gauchos make their rounds.  If beef and pork don’t fit into your lifestyle the chicken is just as tasty

Overall: The decor makes for an impressive date, it is beautiful! An absolute conversation piece.  The great food and exemplary service are simply icing on an already spectacular cake.

Restaurant Review: The Bar Room NYC

by Desha Winborne

Location: 117 E. 60th Street

Cuisine: American

Items: 2 Snacks, 1 Starter, 2 Entrees, 2 Cocktails, 2 Desserts

Best Dish: The best of the venue award is a tie on this one. The wings are a definite hit, the flavor and texture are perfect. However the braised shortribs are a force to be reckoned with.

Overall: The atmosphere is surprisingly casual for such beautiful surroundings. It is a warm inviting space ready to be your next favorite destination.

Location: 102 Lexington Avenue

Cuisine: Indian

Items: 1 appetizer, 4 curries, 2 cocktails, 1 bread

Best Dish: The chicken kabob is a great appetizer it revs up the appetite for all the savory entrees offered by Haldi. The meat is warm and there is something magical about the sound of a sizzling platter that just makes you salivate.

Restaurant Review: Mirch Masala

by Desha Winborne

Location: 95 MacDougal Street

Cuisine: Indian

Items: 2 appetizers, 2 Tandoori plates, 2 curries, 1 bread, 1 dessert

Best Dish: Indian food is easy to get in NY but good Naan isn’t and the naan here is excellent. It is fresh and served warm. You must also help yourself to any of the curries the spice mix used is all flavor without the tongue blasting heat you would expect from Indian food.

Overall: Great food and friendly atmosphere

Location: 135 West 45th St

Cuisine: American Diner

Items: 2 appetizers, 4 cocktails, 3 entrees, 2 desserts

Best Dish: The burger is hands down one of the very best in the city. The bun is soft and fresh and the meat moist and flavorful  The candied bacon is an incredible add-on that must be experienced.

Overall: A delightful casual atmosphere with good food and a friendly fun staff.

Sometimes the best meals are just outside your hotel room. Some of the best hotels in the city are also home to the best restaurants and bars in New York. Last week we had the pleasure of visiting he newly revamped Bar 54 and T-45 Restaurant in the impressive Hyatt Times Square. The hotel is just a few small steps from the middle of Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue shopping and deep in the heart of the busiest area in all of NYC. The Hyatt has over 400 guest rooms stretched out over 54 stories. Though I am sure the rooms are luxurious we were there to eat drink and be merry.

Location: 11 Times Square

Cuisine: Eclectic American and Sushi

Items: 1 Sushi Roll, 4 cocktails, 4 entrees, 1 dessert

Overall: A relaxed space far removed from the excited throng of tourists just outside. This is a great space for native New Yorkers to entertain out of town guests or visit before or after one of the fabulous shows in the area. It s also a great watering hole for tourists looking for an easy to get to dining experience that offers a break from the excitement of the city.

The first time I saw Urbo was in passing. Its unique glass outside beckoned me and the appearance of flickering flames just beyond its doors was an inviting image that left me curious about its wares.  Located on one the busiest strips in Times Square the eatery somehow managed to gain and hold my attention and the exciting throng of tourists faded into the background.  I needed to get in there, but it wasn’t open yet. The space was still under construction despite the interesting décor.  Luckily the wait for the official opening was a short one and a few short weeks later I had the chance to experience the cuisine behind the flashy looks.

Restaurant Review: Love Cafe and Bar

by Desha Winborne

Location: 430 2nd Avenue New York, NY

Cuisine: Eastern European (Russian)

Items: A tasting of numerous dishes on the menu, over 10 Items!

Best Dish: The wings were amazing we love a well sauced wing, but the star was the stuffed cabbage. It was meaty and rich, a decadent combination.

Overall: A charming eatery that will grab you from the entrance. Margarita is a phenomenal cook with a warm heart that welcomes you into her restaurant with the ease of an old friend inviting you for dinner. A warm cozy place for great food and family oriented atmosphere.

Location: 40 Central Park South

Cuisine: Classic Italian

Items: 2 cocktails, 1 appetizer, 1 pizza, 3 entrees, 1 dessert

Best Dish: Everything was delicious but our favorite of the evening was the Seafood Pasta special. It was just the right ratio of pasta to seafood and contained several of our favorite seafood items. Most importantly it contained succulent main lobster and tasty jumbo shrimp, a drool-inducing combination of greatness.
