Catherine Malandrino Spring/Summer 2011
Malandrino‘s Spring 2011 collection is all about fluidity and movement. There is a soft flowing feel to each ensemble as well as a coolness and depth not unlike the works of ceramist Roger Capron who provided the inspiration for the spring collection. Forgoing the usual 3 ring circus that is the fashion week tents Malandrino showed her collection outside at the lake on Lincoln Center.
Models were perched atop cylindrical columns, allowing attendees access to the detail-driven creations. Draped in Malandrino from head to toe it was an exquisite presentation, full of noteworthy pieces. One of my favorite ensembles was this ivory leather studded bolero with wide leg trousers.
The bolero’s intricate details add a sophistication and depth to this look.
We also loved the ivory jersey poncho, worn over a crochet bathing suit. Worn with a straw hat and high weaved sandal it went above and beyond the basic suit and cover up
The detail on these sandals is amazing.
Another favorite is this print chiffon long dress. The color is fresh and bright, and the shoulder detail and unexpected cool touch. The talisman pendant was an especially nice addition to this ensemble.
Subtle and sophisticated with a softness and femininity that is unmistakable, Malandrino knows what women want to wear and more importantly how important it is to feel good in your clothes. The tactile fabrics and indicate drape/details make this a collection to remember.
