Always
While she didn’t use all the same techniques she employed last season with smoke and lighting and having the models enter the space from a “light at the end of the tunnel” feel, she certainly knew how to evoke drama by using the color palates of her garments to create the ambiance and set the stage in a sort of space-age vacuum devoid space with a stark white background. The music also echoed the atmosphere she sought to create as it was somewhat distant featuring sounds of paparazzi camera shots (made doubly effective with all the clicks going off throughout the show).
The first few looks almost blended in with the background as the models processed out in white and silver, with looks featuring satin, metallics and herringbone materials with jackets, blazers, skirts and long dresses, of course complemented by her signature platforms (which has to be what Lady Gaga loves the most besides the drama Lapointe does so effectively).
Then, the white background became another storyboard and shifted into a new color palate as the second set of models wore powerful reds, sharply contrasting the silver and white which proceeded before. The three looks included a red boiled wool, red leather jacket and red organza dress, all complemented by jersey leggings.
Lapointe then transitioned the looks into a sea with a collection of turquoise with silk jersey dresses and jackets, followed by black waxed suede jackets, more silk dresses and wool coats, each color making their own statement against the white background.
Her final look was a red eyelash gown which was complemented by a room that then darkened and featured red shapes projected onto the wall, a bit eerie, which then faded back out to the original white background in which the models proceeded back out of the finale and just stood in front of in their various color palates..
Lapointe never ceases to amaze with somewhat simple touches and signature looks that deliver effective drama, this season with the use of color.
