On Sept. 12, the fashion elite gathered at Artbeam in Chelsea to view the Spring/Summer 2016 collection from Project Runway alum Christian Siriano. The well-attended event brought out the likes of Alicia Silverstone of Clueless fame—decked out in a floor-length white gown, Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks in a knee-length crimson ensemble, and Orange Is the New Black star Laura Prepon, who modeled a vampy black pantsuit.
The trio, joined by Sia muse Maddie Ziegler and starlets Nicole LaLiberte, Isabelle Fuhrman and Joey King, had a front-row seat to view the latest from the 29-year-old designer, his 16th ready-to-wear collection, an abundant assemblage of 47 looks—including everything from flowing evening gowns and wide-leg trousers to asymmetrical skirts with matching capes and form-fitting ensembles pairing crop tops with flounce skirts.
Much of the Morocco-inspired collection—using an almost never-ending roster of fabrics, from organza and knit to faux chinchilla and cotton—consists of feminine hues of the blush, ivory, and stark white variety, paired with splashy embellishments, including tassels, fringe and matching headwraps. Conversely, other styles include drapey silks gowns with matching capes and headscarves in solid, eye-catching colors, including teal and yellow.
MAC Cosmetics provided the show’s muted makeup palette, while the upbeat runway music was courtesy of Siriano’s longtime boyfriend, singer-songwriter Brad Walsh.
