New York State is home to some of the most distinctive and fine spirits around. A lot of those brands are a part of the New York State Distillers Guild, an association established in 2013, which now has more than 60 members across this wonderful state. Luckily for us spirit consumers, the association has put together a new website, NYDISTILLED.COM. The new website will host information about craft spirits and their production, in addition to how they are made, tasting guides, history of distilleries in New York State, and so much more.

2017 Mohegan Sun Wine & Food Fest
One of the highlights of our social calendar is the Sun Wine Fest, an annual celebration of wine and spirits. This Mohegan Sun hosted event, showcases adult beverages from all over the country. This year’s festival marked the first year of its rebranding as The Sun Wine and Food Fest. The celebration included more vendors than years past as well as a focus on food and the art of cooking. The festival is broken down into an action packed weekend of demonstrations, parties, and tastings. This year we attended the Saturday Grand Tasting as well as Sunday Brunch with Chef Mario Batali. The celebrated Batali was but one of several celebrity chefs in attendance. Aaron Sanchez, Rocco DiSpirito, Michelle Ragussis, and Roble Ali were also on hand providing demos and mixing in the hordes of foodies and beverage connoisseurs.
Restaurant Review: Lala Sahab
Location: 489 Columbus Avenue, New York, NY
Cuisine: Indian
Best Dish: The Bhuna Gosht or Curried Goat was the star dish of the evening. The spicy goat meat melt in your mouth and the sauce is hands down one of the best we’ve had in some time.
Overall: A stylish hidden gem with immaculate service to cater to your curry cravings.
Location: 1662 Third Avenue, New York, NY
Cuisine: Greek
Best Dish: The lamb shank was absolutely delicious. The meat was fork tender and well seasoned
Overall: A superb bistro with excellent service and great food.
Location: 132 Montague Street, Brooklyn
Cuisine: Argentinean
Best Dish: Though we would happily eat our way through a swimming pool of their decadent wild mushroom sauce, the star of the evening was the bone in short rib, a carnivore’s dream come true.
Overall: A quaint casual eatery with warmth and charm to spare. Add it to your date night roster or weekly happy hour rotation.

Indulge in Authentic Italian Cuisines at Machiavelli (Review)
Location: 519 Columbus Avenue, New York, NY
Cuisine: Northern Italian
Best Dish: The lamb chops were outstanding and the spaghetti is divine but our favorite dish of the evening was the oven roasted salmon. It is not easy to achieve crisp skin and maintain tender flesh with salmon and yet that is exactly how it was presented and enjoyed.
Overall: The posh decor is reason enough to visit but you will fall in love with the food. If you love Italian cuisines, this restaurant is a must. The venue is also an ideal space for an impressive first date or special occasion. The setting and cuisine are enhanced by a resplendent entertainment experience that features musicians and students from nearby Juilliard and Lincoln Center performing live music nightly and during brunch, and occasional opera.
