What brings you to NYC?
My music and my quest to be on top!
I have studied vocals ranging from jazz to gospel for years. I’m a self-taught songwriter and guitarist.

Is your family musical?
Yes, my father is an amazing musician, and saxophonist, and my mother is a wonderful vocalist.
I really admire Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson and also Paul McCartney. These three individuals were and are so popular but still remained a great inventive artists.
I love reading, movies, and all aspects of art.

Yes, I perform in public. Open mics and shows. They are very raw as far as it just being me and my guitar singing intimately to my audience.

I rarely make mistakes but if so I simply keep going, no one really notices and it’s a part of becoming a better performer.
Do you get nervous before a performance?
No, I don’t, I get very excited.
How often and for how long do you practice?
I practice vocals, and guitar for hours a day.
Do you teach music?
No, I don’t teach but I constantly encourage anyone in the arts.
How do you balance your music with other obligations – mate, children, job?
I don’t balance, my music comes first, for now at least. The people who know and care for me should understand.
What five items would you have with you if you were stuck on an island?
My iPod, a journal, my mom’s lasagna, a good book, and my dog.
What is next for Marcus Harmon?
