Solange Knowles Leigh Lezark and Andrew Bevan sat front row as Noon by Noor showed their spring 2014 collection on September 6th in the Studio at Lincoln Center during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
Jeffery Costello and Robert Tagliapietra debuted a refreshing strong Spring 2014 collection at Milk Studios during the first day of New York Fashion Week. Evolving from their typical flowy draping, this collection seemed to draw more from the personal style of the duo behind the label.
Inspired by international nightlife and its glamorous appeal, Reem Acra’s collection was nothing short of fabulous. From the first embroidered black bias cut chiffon lace-up detail dress that came down the runway to the applique black tulle ball gown that closed the show. With base-pumping disco music blasting through the speakers, for a moment it felt like we time-traveled back to the seventies and we were at Studio 54 on a Saturday night. Reem Acra’s take on global style is dead on with sexy sleek cuts and her use of luxe fabrics. A well-traveled woman will be drawn to the spring collection for its vivid colors of poppy red and orange as well as the mix of classic patterns like houndstooth and polka dots.
There was a bevy of dresses with bias cuts, sexy deep v-necklines, and high splits. Reem Acra’s use of chiffon on jackets, skirts, and gowns gave a light airy feel to the alluring seductive collection. Once the models did their final walk, all you heard was the crowd cheering and shaking their heads up and down as a gesture of approval at the impressive spring collection. Too bad, we are just gearing up for fall, because any woman would be ready to wear those dresses now.

In a refreshing and straight-forward approach, Son Jung Wan’s Spring 2014 collection exudes everything the natural season itself represents – light. Light colors (off-white, light gray, citron, and peach), and light fabrics (silk with chiffon wings, twill, cotton).
Right on the edge of New York Fashion Week, American menswear brands BESPOKEN and Ernest Alexander showcased their S/S 2014 collections. The location was lofty. The energy was inescapable. And, the clothes proved why both brands are quickly rising on the New York fashion scene. Both brands borrow heavily from European style. But, where they really succeed is in creating American twists. The easiness and attention to details really Americanize both citizen brands.
