I
Let’s skip all the pleasantries and go right to the dress that made me literally gasp when I saw it. The red satin ruffled column dress with attached train made time stop for me. Fashion week, for me, is all about attending shows, documenting what I see via photos and taking notes. When I saw this dress, which came smack in the middle of the runway show I stopped taking photos. I stopped waiting for the next look to come down the runway. Instead I watched the model walk all the way down to the end of the runway and back. It was that astounding in person.
Toi showed me, in this runway show, what fashion is all about. It evokes feelings. I also enjoyed that the show was started with ivories and winter whites in outerwear, moved into grays and blacks in tailored suiting and then completely shifted in the middle to the beautiful saturated reds and gowns. The patterned gowns toward the end of the show, while still gorgeous, moved me a bit through fall/winter into spring, but I can forgive. Toi took me on a journey.
I can’t wait to go on our next journey together.
