In the heart of El Barrio (East Harlem) at a cool private residence against a crazy orange sky, due to the unexpected Canadian fires, Willie Esco (@willie_esco) celebrated his first collection in 25 years – Nickname Esco on Wednesday, June 7th.
The resort collection features classic Heritage T-shirts with original acetate designs, Guayabera shirts, classic button-down shirts, shorts with Esco branding, and more. The reception also highlighted classic Esco garments – including t-shirts, leather jackets, and the MLB collaboration – Willie Esco was the only Latino designer that secured a clothing partnership with Major League Baseball.
Guests enjoyed cocktails and catering by Habanero Papi (@habaneropapi) featuring Yave Tequila (the award-winning Puerto Rican-owned tequila) with music by fashion-forward DJ Peter Paul Scott (@peterpaulscott). In addition, guests learned about the journey of Willie Esco and his co-Founder Paul Estevez during a fireside chat with celebrated journalist and Fashion Institute of Technology professor Elena Romero (@proferomero). Special guests in attendance include media maven Harriet Cole and celebrity photographer Johnny Nunez.
