Whitney Port launched her Spring 2013 Whitney Eve collection on Wednesday, September 12th during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Fans have been following Whitney since she stared on reality TV shows such as “The Hills” and “The City.” This show was another opportunity for the world to get a look at Whitney’s take on fashion and how she likes to mix the laid back style of California with the edginess that is New York.
Whitney had some notable people in attendance showing their support ranging from Joe Zee, the fashion director at Elle, to actress Charlotte Ross.
The preview kicked off with the DJ playing “Cinema” by Benny Benassi. With lyrics like “You are a cinema, I could watch you forever. Action, thriller, I could watch you forever. You are a cinema, a Hollywood treasure” the song was a great pick.
The pieces were beautiful and stayed true to Whitney Eve being “a contemporary collection featuring an array of silhouettes from convertible party dresses to charming menswear-inspired bodies that are complimented with alluring colors and exclusive patterns.”
The show included some interesting prints, which were brought to life by Whitney’s use of pastels. Each piece was accompanied with an accessory that gave the entire show an old school flare; ankle bracelets.
Not only were the Whitney Eve pieces unique but the way this whole fashion show came together was also cut from a different cloth. This was the first ever fan funded show to take place during New York Fashion Week. Whitney got her fans involved in the process of helping her put the show together by asking for donations that ranged from $1 to $450. For every donation that was made not only did fans make fashion history but they also got compensated for their generosity. The incentives that were used to encourage fans to make donations included a personal twitter thank you if you gave $5 or more and a front row seat for those that gave $450.
