At some point in your social life dinner and a movie, bowling and Broadway shows will cease to be the amazing thrill it once was. If you have even the slightest bit of creativity tipsy crafts could save your social life. The concept is simple, for a small fee you and a few friends can meet in one of the city’s hot night spots for drinks, apps and a creative class. The classes offered include jewelry making, acrylic painting, and watercolor painting. We dropped in on an acrylic painting class at Proper West a social club and bar in Midtown’s west side. We were led to one of the private rooms for our “Class.” The space was outfitted with bar and bartender as well as small work stations with an easel, canvas, and brushes. Before we got started we stepped up to the bar to get some cocktails for the tipsy portion of our evening. By the time we finished our first round class was underway.
Our instructor, Nando was playful fun and most of all encouraging. Art should be fun after all and he certainly went the extra mile making sure everyone had a great time. We may have started the evening as amateurs but by the end of our class, we felt like seasoned pros. For just you can enjoy this unique night life experience. The cost covers the space supplies and instruction, all drinks and food are extra and subject to the venue’s pricing. If you are lucky your space will allow an extended happy hour with discount beverages snacks like Proper West. While most evening excursions leave you with only a lighter wallet, Tipsy Crafts gives you the gift of self-expression and creativity. We left the venue with our amazing works of art, it’s amazing what you can accomplish with a paintbrush and a shot of liquid courage. Tipsy Crafts offers five uniquely crafted programs: jewelry making, knitting, acrylic, and water color painting.
