Belgian designer, Tim Van Steenbergen, held his Spring/Summer 2011 fashion show at The Bataclan in Paris. He was inspired by the atmosphere of Robert Mapplethorpe’s flower images and the lady gardener who loves to work in her flower garden on the weekends. His first collection was shown in 2002 Paris. He is known for being a master in draping. This collection has great structure and detailing that can be seen throughout from the everyday dress, to the cocktail and evening wear. There are hues of green, grey, beige, and tobacco to contrast with the black and white graphic stripe. The draping details add softness to the collection. Fabrications in embossed cotton and leather, jacquard jersey, wool, linen, crepe wool, structured bouelette, silks, and prints. The looks were topped off with either colored headbands, intricately designed hats or feather accents. He also designs sunglasses and shoes that are handmade.
Tim believes every woman should have a classic little black dress in their wardrobe hence every dress comes in a little black version. The skirts come in different lengths from the ultra-short to ankle length that will fit every woman’s need and comfort level. There are also jumpsuits, shorts and body stockings that can be mix-matched with the different tops and knit-wear in the collection or with the straight cut blazers and shirt jackets. The key to this collection is elegance made in comfortable fabrics reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly with a modern flare that can be worn casually or dressed-up and best, it will never go out of style. Which is great in today’s economy. These pieces will make you look and especially feel like a lady.
