There is a new amazing Rooftop in town and it’s called The Glass Ceiling NoMad. Owner and renowned real estate mogul Raizada ‘Pinky’ Vaid, a partner in Refinery Hotel and Elsie Rooftop, found synergy and joined forces with former banking executive Cate Luzio, Founder and CEO of Luminary, a woman-focused, inclusive membership-based career and personal growth platform located directly on the two floors below.
In this somewhat of a post-pandemic craze, the new and impressive rooftop space boasts direct views of the Empire State Building. The green oasis is chic to the core with retractable glass and an abundance of natural light + surrounding 180° terrace. Celebrating ‘breaking of the glass ceiling’ moments, the venue will support emerging businesses as a launching pad for collaboration and networking; especially as virtual working has become the norm and the need for connection is essential as things normalize.
At a sneak preview of the new hotspot, we were immediately captivated by the decor. The space was filled with large lush plants, palm trees, and earthy wood tones, the space highlights a feminine feel with pink plates, rose gold cutlery, but is inclusive to all. The marble was simply breathtaking. The venue features full dining, brunch, cocktails, beer, and wine, with an emphasis on the women-owned portion of the menu, highlighting brands founded, led, and/or owned by women.
Mr. Vaid says, “Leaving the house has become a privilege, so we wanted to make a space where you can not only eat and drink but also to connect and accomplish things to strive forward and break your own personal glass ceiling, whatever that may be. We are all familiar with celebrating achievements, as I’ve found my own personal success. I’ve become increasingly focused on helping others achieve their goals, so we wanted to create a place where innovation and desire are also celebrated.”
Cate says, “Luminary is the ultimate career advocate offering our members unparalleled programming from office hours with dynamic leaders to a pioneering speaker series, so it was only natural to partner with Mr. Vaid, an expert in successful F&B experiences, on ‘The Glass Ceiling’ to continue supporting women launching their careers and finding the resources to thrive in one collaborative space.”
As part of their initiatives, The Glass Ceiling will be hosting monthly launch party giveaways focusing on women-owned, founded, or partnered businesses. Prizes to include a private launch event with a complimentary open bar and passed appetizers, along with invites going out to relevant industry professionals to help fuel these businesses. Additionally, The Glass Ceiling will hold entrepreneurial ‘happy hours’ with a ‘Shark Tank’ style panel of experts interested in supporting women and minority-owned businesses whose owners can pitch their products and services onsite.
This is the first of many noteworthy projects emerging in NoMad including the impressive Virgin Hotel directly across the street and the new The Ritz Carlton a few blocks away. While guests take in the cityscape, they can also sip on a Halle Berry Cocktail made with Cabernet Sauvignon, angostura bitters, topped with raspberry lambic and fresh raspberries, meant to resemble the iconic Elie Saab Oscars dress from her Glass Ceiling moment of becoming the first Black female to win the Best Actress award in 2001.
Glass Ceiling Nomad is located at 1204 Broadway, 5th Floor New York, NY 10001. For more information, check out glassceilingnomad.com.
