This January we attended The New York Times Travel Show at NYC’s Jacob Javitz Center. The NYT Travel Show brings travel agencies, tourism boards, media, and the public together for a fun and educational weekend. The event allows travelers from all walks of life to network and gather information on a wide variety of destinations, tours, products and other travel-related businesses. Each of the booths is manned by an industry professional eager to help with your leisure or business travel needs. The convention center was divided into distinct sections each with a central theme or locale, allowing guests to navigate the over 600 exhibitors with ease.
A few of our favorite booths include:
Guadeloupe Islands
The Guadeloupe Islands are a small collection of French Islands in the South Caribbean ocean. Guadaloupe is poised to become a hot travel destination, thanks in part to their partnership with Norwegian Airlines. The airline offers six flights per week at a mere $79 one way. With its short light duration from NYC Guadeloupe would be an easy and welcome long weekend getaway.
LGBTQ Travels
This marked the first year of the LGBTQ pavilion at the Times Travel convention. This section of travel companies caters to this niche group offering single and couple oriented excursions as well as access to a growing listing of LGBTQ welcoming travel experiences. The IGLTA or International Gay and Lesbian Tourism Association were at the Pavillion to offer its services as a leader in LGBTQ tourism. Also on hand was Outings and Adventures.com one of the fastest-growing Gay traveling websites. They offer Gay-friendly group tours, cruises, and events.
