This past Sunday, March 28, 2010, I attended the Women on the Move – Sunday School event at the Times Square Arts Center. “Women on the Move is about empowering young women to follow their dreams”, says founder Amber Ravenel. The 25 year old is the mastermind behind Women on the Move, an organization that provides a women’s empowerment tour that promotes unity, networking and support. The March 28th event served as the kick off to the series of panel discussions for this week.
The uber fab Dee Vazquez served as the moderator and host to the panelists who are all “women on the move” in their own right. Sunday’s panel consisted of Power 105.1FM radio personality Cherry Martinez, R&B singer Karina Pasian, Billboard Editor Mariel Concepcion, Hot 97 radio personality K. Foxx, and the young actress Emerald-Angel Young. The subject matter ranged from how each panelist got their start, struggles they face in the industry and future plans.
This is the 4th annual Women on the Move event and first collaboration with Sunday School, it is definitely an interesting and informative event that should be attended by any and everyone. Yes it is targeted to the young, go-getter woman on the move, but the information and advice is universal and real.
Last night we stopped by the 2nd panel, which was held at the Kimmel Center (New York University)
The panelist included:
Laurel(LaureLuxe) and Briana(B Marie Style) whom we featured on the site. Check out her interview here
Radio Personality Angela Yee
Lyricist Nina B
Eyewear designers Coco & Breezy, whom we also featured 🙂
