by xoJohn

The pizza in New York City is arguably some of the best in the world. When given the opportunity to attend a grand opening of the big apple’s latest pizza spot, we couldn’t resist. I headed down to the West Village to celebrate Made in New York Pizza‘s second location. The first is location is on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, this new spot is on Hudson Street between Perry and West 11 streets. The new location features a robust menu of pizzas in both traditional square pies and by the slice along with an impressive art collection of murals, NFTs, and graffiti art that celebrate NYC. It is owned and operated by restaurateur Eytan Sugarman in partnership with Chef Lou Tomczak formerly of Emmy Squared. Sugarman’s partners in the project include Gary Vaynerchuk, Guy Oseary, Ryan Tedder, and DJ Clue.

Exploring Meatless Options with Gardein

by Desha Winborne

Plant-based diets which were once met with skepticism are slowly becoming the norm for more and more people across the globe. Aside from the obvious health benefits, going without animal flesh for a few times a week could significantly impact our environment and end world hunger. While we aren’t quite ready to give up wings and things for good we are open to having one or two meatless meals a week. Luckily brands like Gardein are stepping up to the challenge and creating products to encourage carnivores to enjoy more plant-based meals.

Location: 409 3rd Avenue, New York, NY b/w 28 th & 29 th Street

Cuisine: Indian (Vegetarian)

Best Dish: The puri and the cardamom ice cream are tied for our favorite items. The bread was warm and fresh with a light buttery melt in your mouth texture. The ice cream was only slightly sweet with a smooth creaminess that must be experienced.

Cost: $$

Overall: A quaint and comforting vegetarian restaurant with flavorful options and exemplary service.

Introducing FIXATE by Autumn Calabrese

by xoJohn

Celebrity fitness trainer, Autumn Calabrese, has created a unique and delicious 21 Day Fix. Autumn’s program has partnered with Beachbody to help consumers lead a healthy lifestyle. I recently stopped by the W hotel in New York City for a special tasting, where we were able to samples the breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert options. The selections included Pumpkin Muffins, Edamame Salad, and Quinoa & Black Bean Salad, to name a few. They all were amazingly good and lean. My absolute favorite was the Oven-Chicken & Protein Waffles. I was not sold on the idea of a protein waffles but I’m a risk taker, so I tried it and fell in love. The taste was pretty darn close to traditional Chicken & Waffles, minus the unhealthy ingredients. The drizzled maple syrup was the icing on the cake.
