Reem Acra fall ’14 took us on a journey to “midnight in Paris,” with a complete collection of dresses made for the next round of A-list award season and red carpets. The Reem Acra brand has continued to sit with the creative giants and produce beautiful designs that push fashion to the next level. Voluminous mid-calf silhouettes, as well as elegant columns, create a great range for today’s diverse women.
Reem Acra
Inspired by international nightlife and its glamorous appeal, Reem Acra’s collection was nothing short of fabulous. From the first embroidered black bias cut chiffon lace-up detail dress that came down the runway to the applique black tulle ball gown that closed the show. With base-pumping disco music blasting through the speakers, for a moment it felt like we time-traveled back to the seventies and we were at Studio 54 on a Saturday night. Reem Acra’s take on global style is dead on with sexy sleek cuts and her use of luxe fabrics. A well-traveled woman will be drawn to the spring collection for its vivid colors of poppy red and orange as well as the mix of classic patterns like houndstooth and polka dots.
There was a bevy of dresses with bias cuts, sexy deep v-necklines, and high splits. Reem Acra’s use of chiffon on jackets, skirts, and gowns gave a light airy feel to the alluring seductive collection. Once the models did their final walk, all you heard was the crowd cheering and shaking their heads up and down as a gesture of approval at the impressive spring collection. Too bad, we are just gearing up for fall, because any woman would be ready to wear those dresses now.
Reem Acra has been one of the favorite designers for all women, including exquisite Hollywood stars since 1997. Her stunning dresses are frequently seen on red carpets and at special events, therefore, there is no surprise finding Katherine Heigl, who was wearing a short navy colored dress with delicate lace sleeves and a pair of elegant Champagne-colored stiletto, attending her fashion show in the front row along with the well-known fashion professionals at Stage at Lincoln center.
Reem Acra Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
Reem Acra’s vision for the forthcoming Spring was inspired by artist Arron Young. Yong’s work often incorporates a performance element that is often dangerous. His most notable work involved a motorcycle speeding the screeching and circular pattern created by this act was transformed into a painting. Acra brought the same sense of rebellion and excitement to her collection. Several of the pieces held embellishments resembling the treads of a speeding tire while others simply radiated movement and power. The runway show during New York’s fashion week was like a great race, starting slowly with shift dresses and sportswear before erupting in an explosion of intricate evening gowns.

Reem Acra Spring/Summer 2011 | Becoming an American Princess
Unlike other parts of the world, America does not have a monarchy in place. But the fun part is that girls can still dress like a princess, especially with Reem Acra’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection, where she creates looks suited for a what she calls an “American Princess.”
