John Legend

The Tribeca Film Festival has begun and this year John Legend and Sara Bareilles made an appearance in “Tribeca Talks: Storytellers” where Sara interviewed/discussed with John about his life and career. Starting off Sara asked John about how music came into his life as a child. John started learning to play the piano when he was five and was actively involved in music at church. It wasn’t till he was older that he began to listen to genres other than Gospel and Contemporary Christian music because that was all that was played in his house. His parents divorced when he was young and from there he was able to rebel a bit and start listening to other genres.

Thursday, August 13th, 8p
Madison Square Garden, NYC
Tickets: 9.50-.50
Rating: Hot!!!!

I hate to admit it, but I was on the fence as to whether or not to attend this show. Even though I have seen some major shows like Kanye West‘s Glow in the Dark, Mary J. Blige and Jay-Z‘s Heart of the City, and Tina Turner at Madison Square Garden, I really hate the venue. For me, Madison Square Garden is too large which can often lead to feeling disconnected from the artist. On the other hand, with a combination like John Legend and India.Arie at MSG, how could I pass this up? Out of all the performers I have seen during my adult life as a music connoisseur

John Legend Presents Home School Records

by xoJohn

IMG_3378.jpg picture by johnsimondailyLast week record label executives, fans, and JSD were amongst the crowd inside SOBs, located in downtown New York City, where R&B superstar John Legend hosted an extraordinary showcase for his Home School Records label. The show featured his younger brother Vaughn Anthony. He performed several songs, showcasing his impeccable vocal range. One standout crowd favorite was his debut single, “In Your Shoes” (co-written with Legend). Anthony, began singing backup for his famous big brother nearly two years ago and definitely showed the crowd that talent runs in the family.
