Mongolian designer Katya Zol presented a stunning runway collection part of the Fall/Winter 2014 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Sunday, February 9. The show opened with a performance Cirque du Soleil style with a singer in a native head dress, vocalizing to the sounds of the Mongolian region, followed by an acrobatic gentleman who held various poses upside down, sideways and otherwise using a small chair on the runway. Zol certainly set the stage for her collection that followed – a glorious array of colors, fabrics and styling, evoking the Mongolian spirit throughout.

Emerson by Jackie Fraser-Swan Fall/Winter 2013 Collection
Using all the tools like leather, fur, metallic, tweed and other popular trends seen throughout this season’s Fall/Winter 2013 runway collections, Jackie Fraser-Swan embodied the modern contemporary woman and brought the “runway to real way” concept very much to life.
The collection, named after her inspiration, Ralph Waldo-Emerson, offered sleeveless turtlenecks, printed blouses, vests and overalls, realized in a skirt. Purples, yellows and blacks dotted the collection, though maroon was really the standout and unifying color.
Talk show queen Wendy Williams appears in a sexy new PETA campaign declaring, “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur,” to urge shoppers to join her in crossing fur off their lists.
Williams, who once wore mink and fox fur, had a change of heart after learning from PETA about the cruel ways in which animals are raised and killed for their fur. “We should all try to be comfortable in our own skin and let animals keep theirs,” says Wendy.
Wendy also encourages people who have fur coats to donate them to PETA so that they can be given to the homeless. PETA is working with shelters in Wendy’s home state of New Jersey on coat drives this winter—something that is in great demand as the numbers of needy and displaced people have increased following Hurricane Sandy.

Adrienne Landau Fall 2011 Collection
It was all about colored and classic print furs at the Adrienne Landau Fall 2011 collection. My first thought was, I hope PETA is not outside waiting with a can of paint. Luckily they weren’t. I couldn’t help but to gawk at how luxurious the furs were.
