Over the years we have had our fair share of brunches. Bottomless brunches, Drag brunches, and even Lazer tag brunch. Pascal Jolivet: Wines to Remember

by xoJohn

Domaine Pascal Jolivet is an iconic estate in the French region of Sancerre. The appellation is renowned for its crisp, mineral wines made from Sauvignon Blanc, and its reputation can be mostly attributed to the Jolivet family. Marchesi di Barolo is one of the most historic wineries of the whole Barolo area, with a history dating back more than 200 years, to 1807. In that year the Marquis of Barolo Carlo Tancredi Falletti married Juliette Colbert de Maulévrier, a French noblewoman, it was she who saw the great potential of the Barolo wine, made out of the perfect grape for aging potential, Nebbiolo, named after “nebbia”, fog, which is very common in the area.

On Tuesday, October 22, our friends at the enCourage Kids Foundation hosted their Serving Up Smiles premier tasting event with over 300 plus guests at Current in Chelsea Piers. The event combined philanthropy and good food as chefs from all over the city provided food and beverage and guests bid on spectacular items via silent auction. The tasting included dishes from some of the tri-state area’s finest restaurants. Some of the best dishes of the evening included sumptuous Sea scallops and slow-braised short ribs crostini from Ocean Prime, Meatballs with whipped ricotta from Lavo, Lobster Rolls from lamia’s Fish Market, and Ribeye and Mac n Cheese from Ben & Jack’s Steakhouse. It was definitely the place to be for delicious food.

Aside from the obvious health benefits, going without animal flesh for a few times a week could significantly impact our environment and end world hunger. While we aren’t quite ready to give up wings and things for good we are open to having one or two meatless meals a week. Luckily brands like Gardein are stepping up to the challenge and creating products to encourage carnivores to enjoy more plant-based meals.
