I love New York but every now and then I need to get away from the city and enjoy a little slice of paradise. ย With any luck, I’ll get to visit Palace Resorts in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. About a week ago we attended the launch party for the spectacular resort via a cocktail reception at Arena just off of time square. ย The event introduced media, and industry insiders to the fabulous new vacation spot. Guests enjoyed complimentary cocktails and passing appetizers while hearing about the grande project from the key players behind the scenes. Moon Palace Jamaica Grande is the first property owned by Palace resorts on the island. When thinking of places for their next project Jamaica stood out as the go-to destination. Its culture, history and natural beauty stood out to investors as the perfect place for a new resort.
The resort will be located on the North coast of Jamaica at the head of Ocho Rios Bay. In July of 2014, Palace resorts acquired the lovely sunset resorts and began its $50 million renovation project. Highlights of the renovation will include a more modernized guest room, stylish common areas, new eateries and the addition of a “FlowRider” wave simulator. The family-oriented space will have entertainment for singles, couples, and children, including a teen nightclub and a kids club for the under 12 crowd called “The Playroom”.
In addition to stimulating activities, the space will also be home to a luxurious wellness sanctuary boasting multiple private treatment rooms, plunge pools, common areas for meditation/yoga and a state of the art gymnasium. The space will also offer premium services such as massages, facials, and other treatments. In addition to the spa guests will love its proximity tot he beautiful Ocho Rios Bay just outside the doors. Guests who prefer the relative safety of chlorine-filled pool waters will likely enjoy the five pools planned for the lavish resort.
This space will likely be a major success for palace resorts. Palace is not only bringing its flawless brand of hospitality it is helping the community by allowing the current staff of the Sunset Resort to keep their jobs and providing 600 new jobs to the residents of Ocho Rios. Don’t pack your bags just yet, this place isn’t set to open until early 2015.
