Tucked into the bustling heart of Midtown Manhattan, just steps from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station, Roberta’s brings its signature Brooklyn edge to the Penn District with a rooftop brunch that’s anything but ordinary. Located at One Penn Plaza, Plaza 33 East, the newest location of the famed Bushwick original, offers a slice of punk-inspired charm with a menu that’s bold, inventive, and unmistakably Roberta’s. Climb past the graffiti-splashed stairwell and you’ll find yourself in a sun-drenched rooftop space, complete with umbrellaed tables and a tiki bar that slings colorful cocktails. The vibe is laid-back but electric, with diners soaking in the city skyline while indulging in brunch fare that’s both comforting and elevated.
Did you know Roberta’s is serving up brunch? I certainly didn’t know, so I was curious to try as many of the menu items as my belly would allow. While Roberta’s is known for its wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas, the brunch menu goes far beyond the pie:
– Soft Scrambled Eggs with Lobster & Tarragon: A luxurious twist on a brunch classic, generously studded with tender lobster.
– House Bread & Stracciatella Cheese: Served hot and crusty, the dome-shaped bread gushes fragrant steam when sliced, paired with creamy, pull-apart cheese.
– Fairytale Eggplant: Tossed with sweet-and-sour cherries and diced celery — a whimsical, flavor-packed side.
– Pancake: soft and drenched in maple syrup and cultured butter, it’s a showstopper on any table.
– Bane’s Fried Chicken: Served with house made hot sauce. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
– Linguine Carbonara: with guanciale and pecorino romano. A light treat with lots of flavor.
Don’t skip the rooftop bar — it’s a highlight of the Penn District location. Whether you’re sipping a citrusy spritz or a bold espresso martini, the rooftop cocktails add a festive flair to your brunch experience. My personal favorites were the (A$AP JULIO) 18 tequila, ancho chile, cherry heering, pineapple, vanilla vinegar and the CANNERY ROW (18 rye, cynar, lemon, ginger beer). I ended my rooftop experience chatting with my fellow dinner, while sipping on a chilled glass of rosé.

Roberta’s at Penn Station isn’t just a place to eat — it’s a destination. If you’re a local looking for a weekend escape or a traveler seeking a taste of New York’s culinary creativity, this spot delivers brunch with soul, spice, and a splash of rebellion.
