Reem Acra has been one of the favorite designers for all women, including exquisite Hollywood stars since 1997. Her stunning dresses are frequently seen on red carpets and at special events, therefore, there is no surprise finding Katherine Heigl, who was wearing a short navy colored dress with delicate lace sleeves and a pair of elegant Champagne-colored stiletto, attending her fashion show in the front row along with the well-known fashion professionals at Stage at Lincoln center.
Her recent trip to Japan inspired Reem Acra Fall 2013 collection. Also, meeting an artist named Daido Moriyama and his series of photography of abstracts images featuring female body in fish net stockings gave her a new idea of a way to layer fabrics. Her original creativity brought the traditional Kimono and embroidery to the urban direction, so that the collection full-filled the needs of today’s contemporary style for the modern-day woman.
The runway show displayed an image of alluring strong women. Simply using black, white and red, the hue effectively flattered the silhouette and details of the garments while urbanizing the look. The signature Asian-influenced embroideries put the accent on the elegantly refined attire. The diamond tweed kimono coat worn over the ink dot blouse with princess of wales skirt was the perfect effortless mixture of the eastern and western style, which was wearable and stupendous. The dashing ball gowns shown in the end of the collection with hand embroidered details exhibited Reem Acra’s authentic gift to create dresses for the women to feel and look luxurious on special occasions.
