As you all know, the U.S. Open is set to start next week; Tennis pros, as well as fans, are flocking to New York City for the various games and activities taking place around the big apple. On Thursday, the Lotte New York Palace’s beautiful courtyard was transformed into a sporting oasis as 14-time Grand Slam winner in men’s tennis, Rafael Nadal went head to head against all-time great female tennis pro, Venus Williams. This time around, things were a little different, the two played a round of Badminton for the 2017 Palace Invitational Badminton Tournament. Before the game began, Hyukbum Kwon, CFO of Lotte New York Palace, and Fred Dixon, CEO and President of NYC & Company welcomed guests and ensured them they were in for a fun-filled evening. HBO’s Ballers star, Omar Benson Miller was up next as he introduced Tennis Champions Genie Bouchard, Nick Kyrgios, Alexander & Mischa Zverev.
While guests enjoyed courtside views, they were treated to cocktails and light bites. They also had a chance to get a highly coveted Tennis ball, signed by the players. Each match was absolutely hysterical to watch. At one point, Williams ended up on the ground after missing a shot. It’s safe to say, everyone should stick to Tennis.
